Have you missed church lately? Have you missed it often?
What if church had an absence policy like your work or school?
D.L. Moody once said “Church attendance is as vital to a disciple as a transfusion of rich, healthy blood to a sick man.”
What does the Bible say about attending church?
And let us consider how we may encourage one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. – Hebrews 10:24-25
We are to keep the Sabbath holy (Ex. 20:8), and to worship the Lord (Matt. 4:10). We are to grow in Christ. How can we do any of this without attending church regularly?
But God has combined the members of the body…so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 1 Corinthians 12:24-27
How can we succeed alone if we are all meant to be together and encourage one another (1 Thes 4:18), to disciple one another (Mt 28:19-20), and to comfort one another (2 Cor 1:3-4) and bear one another’s burdens (Gal 6:2). If we fail to attend church, we fail in our Christian walk. We need each other and God!
Some people don’t come to church because “there are hypocrites in church.” These people are called “hypocrites.” … Did you get that?
What if your work/school attendance looked like your church attendance? Would you be fired?
