As Thanksgiving approaches, it is only appropriate that we give Thanks.
1 Chronicles 16:8-9 (New International Version)
8 Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name;
make known among the nations what he has done.
9 Sing to him, sing praise to him;
tell of all his wonderful acts.
This delightful passage of Scripture reminds us of 2 key points.
The first – is that when we give thanks, it should be “to the Lord.” Sure, we are thankful for our mighty nation, our government, our soldiers, our family, and our friends. But, the ultimate authority is God, and we should Thank Him for everything. As we thank Him, it is only appropriate to do so with joy in our heart and we should sing praises to Him as we honor and glorify Him for His mighty works.
The second – is that we need to “share God.” The passage says “make known his deeds among the peoples” and “tell of all His wondrous works.” This is yet another reminder that we aren’t to keep quiet about our faith. Instead, we are not only to share our faith, but to share it in “all nations” as commanded by the Great Commission. We are appointed as His children so that we may go into the world and preach the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Thus, as we move into Thanksgiving – give Thanks…but Give Thanks to our Lord Almighty, and then share the great and mighty blessing of Salvation that He gave to you, with others so that they too, can become children of God. Explain to others how to start a personal relationship with Jesus Christ – our Lord and Savior today!
