a song…

I love contemporary Christian songs (don’t get me wrong – Hymns are good too).
But one got in my head today as I read through the book of Psalms, as I was reminded how neat it is that a lot of the songs we sing are based directly from Scripture.

Psalm 121:1-2

I look up to the hills, but where does my help come from?

My help comes from the Lord, who made Heaven and earth

My help does come from the Lord. So many times during the month, year, decade, I get the feeling that I’m in control. Just about that time, God reminds me that I’m not in control, but He is in control.

My help comes ONLY from the Lord. What’s interesting in this Psalm is the ending:

Psalm 121:7-8

The Lord will protect you from all dangers; He will guard your life

The Lord will guard you as you come and go, both now and forever.

You see, He’s not going to let you down, not now, not then, not ever. But first, you do have to come to Him. You must give your heart to Him. Ask Jesus to be your savior today!
