The unknown: #1

It seems that most bloggers (myself included) just continue to write on the same subjects time and time again. So I felt like doing a series on “unknown verses” of the Bible. Not “fearing the unknown,” but true verses that are little known to many people, even those who read the Bible daily.

If you don’t believe any of the messages I write, I ask that you open your Bible and see for yourself. If I have in fact taught improperly, please contact me so that I may clarify and/or correct any mistakes.

Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. – 1 John 4:1 (NIV)
Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. – 2 Tim 4:2

Now, onto the unknown.

Unknown #1 (note: this series will be in no particular order)

As Elisha was performing work for the Lord, “some youths came from the city and mocked him, and said to him ‘Go up you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead.’ So he turned around and looked at them, and pronounced a curse on them in the name of the Lord. And two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths” (2 Kings 2:23-24 NIV).

Moral: Don’t mock the Lord or His work – or suffer the consequences!
