The 2nd best day of my life
Go ahead and guess….? What do you think?
The old adage for men is that the day they buy a boat is the 2nd best day of their life….
Of course, the moral to that story is: the best day of a man’s life is the day he sells his boat.
I don’t know if that’s true or not, but I’m here to claim the 2nd best day of my life.
And the answer is the day I met Christ. In a humble little office with my beautiful bride to be, Kimberly’s Pastor taught me what it meant to be Saved. And that day about 23 years ago, I asked Christ to enter my heart. It’s been a roller coaster ride since then, good days, bad days, great days, sad days. But enough of that. Want to hear the best day of my life?
Well, first let me correct you on your initial guess. While many might say, “well it would be the day you got married.” That day was EXCELLENT! A pathetic little guy like me somehow convinced a beautiful little girl to commit her life to me. Yeah, that day was really great! Of course the day Kimberly said “yes” was almost as good. But that’s not the best day of my life. What? Read on….
I’ll give you a hint (sort of): my best day is related to my 2nd best day, but not in the same way a guy and his boat have #1 and #2 days.
I believe the best day of my life will be the same as every other Christian’s out there. I believe the best day of my life will be the day I meet Christ face to face in Heaven. Right now, as Christians, we believe and have faith that Christ will deliver on His promises. In fact, to this point in time, the day we accepted Christ is probably #1 in our life, but I’m looking forward to after our worldly life, into a day when we will experience God’s glory in such a manner that we can’t even comprehend.
I picture the streets of gold, the pearly gates, and Christ in all His Heavenly splendor.
Of course, as I think about such days, I imagine that every day in Heaven will probably be better than any day on earth – so I stand corrected. Maybe inviting Christ into my heart isn’t my 2nd best day, but for now I’ll claim it’s at the top, pending Christ’s return.
And again, to remind you, if we don’t consider divine intervention (although I do believe God had a large hand in it), the day Kimberly said “I do” would be the greatest day of my life. Kimberly, I love you smuchly!
